About GD Labs
Green Decision Labs and Research (GD Labs) is a research and innovation lab that aims to achieve urban sustainability in Nepal’s cities by establishing and partnering with innovative Green and Social Ventures. The company aims to leverage government and international funds to create self-sustaining enterprises that have a lasting impact. GD Labs operates as a venture building company, working on various themes including air, waste, mobility, and green cities to promote sustainable urban lifestyles. Founded on November 17, 2019, under the Companies Act, 2006, GD Labs was inspired by alumni from Kathmandu University’s Environmental Engineering program. The founding members are passionate and driven environmental engineers dedicated to making a positive impact in Nepal.

Co-founder/CEO
Experienced Research And Development Specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the environmental services industry. An aspiring entrepreneur and a practicing engineer in the field of Environmental data, technology, and services. Skilled in Environmental Impact Assessment, Public Speaking, various streams of Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, and Research. Strong research professional with an ongoing Master’s degree focused in Crisis/Emergency/Disaster Management from Lumbini International Academy of Science and Technology with a keen interest in the Climate Change domain.
Nivesh Dugar
Co-founder/International Partnership
An environmental engineer by profession has been taking initiatives to improve the mobility of the people in the city since 2309 through a campaign “Kathmandu Cycle City-2020” and currently he is on the board of the cycle led NGO “Cycle City Network Nepal” in the capacity of Vice-President and in another not-for-profit organization “Society of Environmental Engineers in Nepal ” in the capacity of Secretary. Besides the voluntary engagement, he has been working in the sector of waste, WASH, green cities, environmental planning. He has been working professionally through environment based company Green Decision Labs and Research Pvt. Ltd. which has the vision and mission to make the surrounding environment friendly. Nivesh has an academic background of a Master’s of Technology in Environmental Engineering.
Bijay K.C.

An Environmental Engineer with ample interest in Youth and Innovation for the Sustainable Lifestyle. An aspiring advocate, currently serving as General Secretary for Society of Environmental Engineers of Nepal (SEEN). Visioned with Social Entrepreneurship, he is graduating from Development Studies from Kathmandu University.
Sangeet Nepal
Co-founder
Sangeet Nepal is a carbon policy expert in the federal policy-making for industrial and energy decarbonization in the United States. He has a Bachelor’s in Environmental Engineering from Kathmandu University and a dual Master’s in Environmental Science and Public Affairs from Indiana University. Over the years, Sangeet’s focus has shifted from air pollution research and solutions toward policy-making in advancing mitigation technology, particularly in—carbon capture and removal. Outside of GD Labs, Sangeet has experience in serving organizations such as the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), the Society of Environmental Engineers of Nepal (SEEN), Indiana University Bloomington, Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), and the Great Plains Institute (GPI). When he is not working, Sangeet likes hiking in the mountains, playing cricket, and singing rock songs.
Pawan Kumar Sapkota
Co-founder
Pawan, M Eng. Environmental Engineering, has been working in the sector of climate resilient water supply in Nepal. His expertise ranges from the engineering design and sustainability assessment of Water Supply and Sanitation components to the Environmental Assessment of other development projects. Pawan is particularly interested in data science and hydrological modeling. As of now, Pawan is actively involved in the domain of data driven monitoring and evaluation of the projects. Besides the profession, he is fascinated by fun activities such as hiking and musical gatherings.
Anuj Mishra
Co-founder
Anuj is an environmental engineer with specialization in groundwater hydrology. His expertise lies in the intricate dynamics of water systems and hydrological processes. Throughout his career, Anuj has worked in water, energy, food and ecosystem (WEFE) Nexus, sustainable urban living and impact assessments applying analytical and modeling skills to address water and environmental challenges. He holds a Meng. degree in Environmental Engineering from Dresden University of Applied Sciences, Dresden, Germany.
Manoj Sharma
Co-founder
Manoj Sharma is an accomplished Environmental Engineer with a specialized master’s degree in Disaster Risk Engineering Management. His professional expertise is predominantly rooted in the fields of Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Currently, he serves as an Environmental Officer for a transmission line project, where he applies his extensive knowledge to ensure environmental compliance and sustainability in project execution. His role involves evaluating the environmental impacts of transmission line projects, implementing mitigation measures, and liaising with stakeholders to maintain ecological balance and community well-being.

Sampada Shrestha

Sampada is an environmental engineer who is passionate about the environment and is committed to making a lasting impact. Conducting thorough investigations, gathering and interpreting data, and synthesizing findings into comprehensive reports are integral aspects of her role as a research officer. As a dedicated research officer, she has been actively involved in a wide range of research projects, with a particular focus on sustainable urban mobility, and air pollution monitoring. With a profound understanding of environmental engineering principles, an extensive research portfolio, a strong analytical mindset, and an unwavering commitment to the environment, Sampada is poised to continue making significant contributions to the field.

Aarju Thapa serves as the Finance & Administration Officer at Green Decision Labs and Research Pvt.Ltd. bringing both academic knowledge and practical expertise to the role. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies from Tribhuvan University and currently pursuing a Master’s degree in MBS. She is skilled in budgeting, payroll, account reconciliation, procurement, and office management. With a strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and compliance, Aarju plays a key role in ensuring the smooth financial operations and administrative functions of the organization. Saru Kumari Chaudhary is a dedicated and detail- oriented lab assistant with a strong background in laborator operations, sample analysis and quality control known for precision, organizational skills and commitment to maintaining high safety and hygiene standards, she plays a vital role in supporting accurate and reliable test results. She is proficient in preparing reagents, calibrating and operating analytical instruments and maintaining detailed documentation to guarantee the integrity of laboratory results. Her proactive approach, teamwork spirit and passion for scientific accuracy make her an indispensable part of any laboratory environment.
Pravesh Panthi
Business Associate
Pravesh Panthi, an environmental engineer from Kathmandu University, brings a wealth of experience and expertise in environmental sustainability, having served as a Business Associate at Green Decision Labs and Research in Pulchowk, Kathmandu. In this role, he led pioneering projects such as Plastic Waste Management (Poly+), where he facilitated the upcycling of polypropylene waste plastic into insulation material, significantly reducing environmental impact. He also directed the branding and marketing efforts for Poly+, effectively highlighting its sustainability features and penetrating eco-conscious markets. Also, Pravesh served as the Sustainability Initiative Coordinator for Greenway Nepal, contributing to the development and implementation of initiatives aimed at promoting clean air and sustainable transport. His role involved fostering green businesses, guiding them towards sustainable practices, and advocating for a green lifestyle within the community.
Prashant Neupane
Program Officer
Prashant Neupane is a results-driven development professional with extensive experience coordinating and supporting donor-funded programs across Nepal. At GD Labs, he contributes to proposal development, field coordination, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) for projects addressing sustainable development challenges. Skilled in stakeholder engagement and report drafting, he has worked across diverse local levels and facilitated a wide range of stakeholder events. He holds a Master’s degree in Social Work specializing in Social Development and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Rural Development.
