About GD Labs

Green Decision Labs and Research (GD Labs) is a research and innovation lab that aims to achieve urban sustainability in Nepal’s cities by establishing and partnering with innovative Green and Social Ventures. The company aims to leverage government and international funds to create self-sustaining enterprises that have a lasting impact. GD Labs operates as a venture building company, working on various themes including air, waste, mobility, and green cities to promote sustainable urban lifestyles. Founded on November 17, 2019, under the Companies Act, 2006, GD Labs was inspired by alumni from Kathmandu University’s Environmental Engineering program. The founding members are passionate and driven environmental engineers dedicated to making a positive impact in Nepal.

Bijay K.C.

CFO/Co-founder

An Environmental Engineer with ample interest in youth-led innovation and sustainable lifestyles, currently transitioning into the policy and systems space. Having previously served as General Secretary and now stepping into the role of Immediate Past President for the Society of Environmental Engineers of Nepal (SEEN), he bridges technical environmental solutions with multi-stakeholder advocacy.

Driven by a vision for social entrepreneurship, he holds a degree in Development Studies from Kathmandu University, where his academic focus centered on grassroots development models and policy dynamics. His exposure to Development Studies deepened his critical understanding of how socio-economic policies, environmental justice, and human-centered design intersect in developing nations.

Philosophically, he is deeply engaged with environmental ethics, systems thinking, and the existential dynamics of human-nature relationships, exploring how ethical frameworks can inspire conscious living and systemic societal progress.

Nivesh Dugar

COO/Co-founder

An environmental engineer by profession has been taking initiatives to improve the mobility of the people in the city since 2309 through a campaign “Kathmandu Cycle City-2020” and currently he is on the board of the cycle led NGO “Cycle City Network Nepal” in the capacity of Vice-President and in another not-for-profit organization “Society of Environmental Engineers in Nepal ” in the capacity of Secretary. Besides the voluntary engagement, he has been working in the sector of waste, WASH, green cities, environmental planning. He has been working professionally through environment based company Green Decision Labs and Research Pvt. Ltd. which has the vision and mission to make the surrounding environment friendly. Nivesh has an academic background of a Master’s of Technology in Environmental Engineering.

Samip Sigdel

CTO/Co-founder

Experienced Research And Development Specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the environmental services industry. An aspiring entrepreneur and a practicing engineer in the field of Environmental data, technology, and services. Skilled in Environmental Impact Assessment, Public Speaking, various streams of Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, and Research. Strong research professional with an ongoing Master’s degree focused in Crisis/Emergency/Disaster Management from Lumbini International Academy of Science and Technology with a keen interest in the Climate Change domain.

Sangeet Nepal

Co-founder

Sangeet Nepal is a carbon policy expert in the federal policy-making for industrial and energy decarbonization in the United States. He has a Bachelor’s in Environmental Engineering from Kathmandu University and a dual Master’s in Environmental Science and Public Affairs from Indiana University. Over the years, Sangeet’s focus has shifted from air pollution research and solutions toward policy-making in advancing mitigation technology, particularly in—carbon capture and removal. Outside of GD Labs, Sangeet has experience in serving organizations such as the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), the Society of Environmental Engineers of Nepal (SEEN), Indiana University Bloomington, Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), and the Great Plains Institute (GPI). When he is not working, Sangeet likes hiking in the mountains, playing cricket, and singing rock songs.

Pawan Kumar Sapkota

Co-founder

Pawan, M Eng. Environmental Engineering, has been working in the sector of climate resilient water supply in Nepal. His expertise ranges from the engineering design and sustainability assessment of Water Supply and Sanitation components to the Environmental Assessment of other development projects. Pawan is particularly interested in data science and hydrological modeling. As of now, Pawan is actively involved in the domain of data driven monitoring and evaluation of the projects. Besides the profession, he is fascinated by fun activities such as hiking and musical gatherings.

Anuj Mishra

Co-founder

Anuj is an environmental engineer with specialization in groundwater hydrology. His expertise lies in the intricate dynamics of water systems and hydrological processes. Throughout his career, Anuj has worked in water, energy, food and ecosystem (WEFE) Nexus, sustainable urban living and impact assessments applying analytical and modeling skills to address water and environmental challenges. He holds a Meng. degree in Environmental Engineering from Dresden University of Applied Sciences, Dresden, Germany.

Manoj Sharma

Co-founder

Manoj Sharma is an Environmental Engineer, safety professional, and sustainability strategist working at the intersection of infrastructure, climate resilience, and economic systems. With a Master’s in Disaster Risk Engineering Management and an MA in Economics (2026), he brings a multidisciplinary approach to delivering solutions that are technically sound, economically viable, and environmentally responsible. He has extensive experience in environmental assessment, compliance, and stakeholder coordination across infrastructure, energy, industry, and tourism sectors, along with hands-on roles as an Environmental Officer and Safety Engineer. He has also led large-scale renewable energy initiatives, including solar projects exceeding 100 MW, and is skilled in pollution analysis and strategic proposal development for international climate initiatives, translating complex challenges into scalable, fundable solutions. As Co-founder of GD Labs, he advances a systems-level vision that positions environmental intelligence, safety, and innovation as core drivers of resilient infrastructure and sustainable development.

Aarju Thapa

Finance Officer

Aarju Thapa serves as the Finance & Administration Officer at Green Decision Labs and Research Pvt.Ltd. bringing both academic knowledge and practical expertise to the role. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies from Tribhuvan University and currently pursuing a Master’s degree in MBS. She is skilled in budgeting, payroll, account reconciliation, procurement, and office management. With a strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and compliance, Aarju plays a key role in ensuring the smooth financial operations and administrative functions of the organization. Passionate about continuous learning and professional growth, she strives to contribute to the long-term success of the company.

Saru Kumari Chaudhary

Lab Analyst

Saru Kumari Chaudhary is a dedicated and detail- oriented lab assistant with a strong background in laborator operations, sample analysis and quality control known for precision, organizational skills and commitment to maintaining high safety and hygiene standards, she plays a vital role in supporting accurate and reliable test results. She is proficient in preparing reagents, calibrating and operating analytical instruments and maintaining detailed documentation to guarantee the integrity of laboratory results. Her proactive approach, teamwork spirit and passion for scientific accuracy make her an indispensable part of any laboratory environment.

Rajani K.C.

Lab Analyst

Rajni KC is a detail-oriented Laboratory Analyst with a background in Environmental Science and a strong dedication to environmental sustainability. She is experienced in environmental sample analysis, instrument calibration, laboratory documentation, quality assurance, and data interpretation, along with supporting research on water and ecosystem health. Proficient in standard laboratory procedures, analytical techniques, and environmental data management, she ensures accuracy and reliability in scientific outputs that support environmental assessment and evidence-based sustainable management.

Saksham Shrestha

Environmental Technology Engineer / Research Associate

Er. Saksham Shrestha is a Kathmandu University graduate and an Environmental Tech Engineer/Research Associate at GD Labs and Research, working at the intersection of environmental engineering, and community based environmental solutions. His work focuses on developing practical, technology-driven approaches for real-world environmental and community challenges.

His interdisciplinary journey has earned him recognition as a WWF Nepal Conservation Memorial Scholar and an APCDA Singapore Martha Russell Scholar. He is passionate about bridging engineering, research, and human-centered innovation to create scalable solutions for developing regions like Nepal.

Kevin Maharjan

Communication / Brand Manager

Kevin Maharjan is a multi-talented professional specializing in social media management, branding, digital marketing, and creative graphic designing. With a deep understanding of social media platforms and online channels, Kevin develops strategic campaigns to engage target audiences and achieve business objectives. His expertise extends to digital marketing, where he leverages various channels and analytics tools to optimize reach and drive conversions. Kevin’s creative skills shine through his ability to design visually appealing graphics that align with brand identities. He is dedicated to continuous learning and staying updated with the industry trends.

Sabin Gaihre

Operations Officer

Sabin Gaihre is a Tribhuvan University graduate and an Operations Officer at GD Labs and Research, with a background in microbiology, research, and laboratory operations. He oversees operational coordination and supports the successful execution of laboratory, environmental monitoring, and research projects. His responsibilities include coordinating project implementation, optimizing operational processes, managing technical documentation, supporting budgeting and resource allocation, and facilitating effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

With prior research experience in microbiology, biofertilizer development, and environmental research, along with several peer-reviewed scientific publications, he brings a strong combination of scientific expertise and operational leadership. His ability to bridge scientific knowledge with effective project execution contributes to the delivery of high-quality analytical, research, and management.
