The RAE funded project came as a result of partnership between Utopia Kathmandu, University of Manchester, University of De Montfort and Green Decision Labs and Research during a symposium hosted by Royal Acadamy of Engineering in Circular Economy.
The project focused on macro-scale mapping of the hierarchy and ecosystem of informal and formal waste actors in Nepal. During the study several informal waste actors, formal waste actors, waste startups and waste generators were surveyed. Further, policy recommendations were made to integrate the informal sector in the formal ecosystem.
The findings of the project were published as paper in springer.
